| Subject: | Updating the Enhanced Revenue Collection Account |
| Please join me as a cosponsor of legislation to update the Enhanced Revenue Collection Account. The account was created in 2010 to fund the Department of Revenue’s expanded tax return reviews and tax collection activities. Of the amounts received from those activities, the Department of Revenue is permitted to use up to $30 million per year, and the remainder is returned to the General Fund or the appropriate fund in the State Treasury. As part of its most recent re-authorization, the account and the $30 million appropriation were extended through the 2019-2020 fiscal year. Under my proposal, the account would be made permanent; however, the General Assembly would be required to determine the amount of funding for the Department of Revenue from the account each year. This change will return control over the funding used in this account to the General Assembly for review each year. Please join me in cosponsoring this important legislation. |
