Subject:	Increased Fines for Littering and Dumping

Trash-strewn streets and mounds of garbage dumped and forgotten are not only eyesores on this beautiful Commonwealth; they also do long-term damage to the environment and local ecosystems. Littering and illegal dumping also take a toll on the coffers of municipalities that far too often spend countless hours cleaning up trash and other items in public areas. In order to dissuade litterers and dumpers, I will be proposing legislation to increase the fines and penalties for those caught illegally throwing away their garbage. Disposing of our trash properly is not a difficult task, so I believe that failure to do so should be punished appropriately. Please join me in supporting this important legislation.
