Subject: | Economic Justice for DRBC Takings |
For several years, landowners in the Delaware River Basin have lived under a gas drilling moratorium imposed on them by the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC). This moratorium has prevented impacted landowners from realizing the economic benefits that landowners are seeing in nearly every other part of our Commonwealth. Last session, I introduced a resolution (HR 515) urging the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) to suspend consideration of a permanent ban on natural gas development in the Delaware River Basin. The House voted to adopt that resolution. Despite this resolution, it appears as if the DRBC is going to continue moving forward with adopting regulations that would prohibit natural gas development activities within the basin. Therefore, I will be introducing a companion bill to Senator Baker’s SB 305 that “will provide that impacted landowners will be entitled to compensation calculated in the same manner as is used to determine value in any other eminent domain action.” Please join me in sponsorship this legislation. |
