Subject: | Designation of the Gary L. Crone Memorial Bridge (former HB 2014) |
In the near future, I will be re-introducing a bill designating the bridge on State Route 4009 that crosses the Conewago Creek, more commonly known as Lewisberry Road, as the Gary L. Crone Memorial Bridge. Gary, formerly of Zions View in York County, was a United States Army Staff Sergeant and was killed in action, at age 20, near Khe Sanh, Vietnam on January 29, 1968. While on patrol as part of the 5th Special Forces Group, SSG Crone was killed in an enemy ambush near hill 471, one day before he was due to leave Vietnam. For his bravery during his two tours in Vietnam, SSG Crone was awarded two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star, and the Silver Star. Please join me in honoring the memory of this individual for his ultimate sacrifice by co-sponsoring this legislation. |
