Subject: Maintenance Agreements for Private Roads
 
In the near future, I plan on introducing legislation that will amend the Private Road Act to require home owners that access their properties through a private road to contribute to the maintenance of the road. Home owners will be responsible for paying for the upkeep of the part of the private road that they own notwithstanding any rewritten agreement that states otherwise.

I developed this legislation due to the new banking regulations that would have prevented home owners who access their houses through a private road from getting certain loans because they lacked written agreements that provided for the maintenance of the private roads.
