MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 18, 2019 08:23 AM
From: Representative Maria P. Donatucci
To: All House members
Subject: Fire Safety Advisory Committee

Fighting fires is hot, grueling, and difficult work, and firefighters around the Commonwealth consistently put their lives on the line to protect our citizens’ lives and property. However, fighting fires in urban areas can be very different than fighting them in rural ones.

In recognition of this reality, I will be introducing legislation that would increase the number of firefighters represented on the state’s Fire Safety Advisory Committee from six to 10, and mandate that of the paid firefighters on the Committee, one be from a first class city and one be from a second class city. This would allow all firefighters to be adequately represented and have their concerns heard.

Please join me in support of this important legislation to ensure that all of our firefighters’ voices are heard as they do their best to keep all of us safe.
