Subject: | Title 53 Amendment |
In the near future, I plan to reintroduce former House Bill 1034 from last session. It would create a system of financial best practices for municipal authorities across the state to use when handling the money they collect. The Municipal Authorities Association has worked to develop a number of legislative changes that will make it harder for an individual to misappropriate any money collected by a municipal authority. Some of the changes that this legislation would make are: removing any individual names from municipal accounts, creating a standardized procedure for the handling of authority’s funds, and requiring annual audits and fiscal reports to be presented to the authority board. Please join with me in co-sponsoring this important legislation that will add common sense financial protections. Previous cosponsors: RYAN, DUNBAR, MACKENZIE, JAMES, MILLARD, D.
