Subject: | Prohibit Drivers from Driving While Holding an Animal |
Driving while holding a pet, regardless of its size, is a safety hazard not only for the animal and the driver, but for the general public. An animal held by a driver or seated on a driver's lap when a vehicle is in motion is dangerously close to the steering wheel and gear stick, increasing the chances of an accident that could result in injury to the pet, its owner and other drivers on the road.
My common-sense proposal is to prohibit Pennsylvania drivers from operating a motor vehicle while holding an animal, consequently eliminating unnecessary distractions on our roads and ensuring the safety of drivers.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
