Subject: Adding Businesses to the Do Not Call List
 
Every day, thousands of telemarketing calls are made to Pennsylvania homes and businesses. Currently, only residential telephone subscribers can place themselves on the Pennsylvania Do Not Call List. Just as at home, many businesses do not want to receive these calls and in many cases the people answering the calls are not able to make decisions on the telemarketer’s requests. These unwanted calls can lead to lost productivity and profitability throughout the course of a year, especially when it comes to our smaller businesses.

This is why my legislation would allow Pennsylvania businesses to place themselves on the Do Not Call List. Businesses would follow the same rules and regulations and receive the same protections as residential customers.

I ask that you join me in co-sponsoring this legislation which will help our businesses of all sizes receive protection from unwanted telemarketing calls.
