Subject: | Resolution to study Rules of the House |
As we discussed on the House floor on New Year’s Day, I plan to introduce a resolution making the rules adopted that day temporary until the first session day 75 days after the adoption of this resolution. In order to assure all members of the House the opportunity to participate in the legislative process in an effective, efficient and transparent way, a committee shall be formed to study the current rules and report their recommendations for revisions to the rules governing the House of Representative for the 2019-2020 session. The committee shall consist of 12 democratic members appointed by the democratic leader and 12 republican members appointed by the majority leader in consultation with the Speaker. Each proposed revision will require a vote of at least 75% of the committee. The final report of the committee will be due 60 days following the adoption of the resolution. Please join me in co-sponsorship of this resolution which will set the tone for the entire upcoming session. |
