Subject: | Animal Abuse Registry |
At the request of the Humane Society of PA, and after their review of last Session's Libre Law, I will be re-introducing legislation that will amend Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) to provide for an animal abuser registry in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. An animal abuser located within the boundaries of the Commonwealth for more than ten days shall register with the county sheriff for the county in which the animal abuser is located before the end of the 11th day. Following the initial registration, the animal abuser must renew the registration with the country sheriff prior to December 31 for each calendar year for 15 years. Failure to comply with the registration or providing false information is guilty of a felony in the third degree. The county sheriff shall maintain a local registry and provide notification of registered animal abuser to every residence, school, humane society, animal shelter and any other business located within a half mile of the animal abuser’s residence. The Pennsylvania State Police shall maintain a central registry that will be available to the public. Thank you! Prior co-sponsors: READSHAW, D.
