Subject: | Assignment of Student Sex Offenders |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will require school districts to assign a student convicted of a sexually-based offense to a school building other than one attended by the sex offender’s victim or the victim’s sibling. Specifically, the board of school directors of the school district in which the student convicted of a sexually-based offense resides will be required to assign the student to an alternative school building within the school district, cyber education program, cyber charter school, charter school, regional charter school, intermediate unit, area vocational-technical school, nonpublic school, or another school district. A parent or legal guardian of the student sex offender will be required to provide transportation to the assigned school building. Please join me in protecting victims of heinous acts by co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation. If you have any questions, please contact my office. |
