Subject: | Emergency Preparedness Grant Program for Schools |
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation to improve school emergency and crisis preparedness. Specifically, my bill will establish a grant program for schools to assist in providing trauma bags, tourniquets, and corresponding training. The Pennsylvania Department of Health will be responsible for determining the protocols for training of willing school staff on the use of the medical equipment and recommend the appropriate placement of the equipment in schools. In addition, the funding will be used to provide a train the trainer program so that schools or local first responders can hold annual refresher courses. We must ensure that our schools are prepared and have the resources needed in any type of disaster or emergency. Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation that will provide additional tools, skills, and knowledge to help our children, teachers, and school employees if heaven forbid the need arises. |
