Subject: | Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week |
For Pennsylvania businesses to remain competitive, it is crucial that our workforce has an understanding and appreciation of the challenges facing today’s business community. Currently, students are not required to take any courses in economics as a prerequisite to high school graduation. Because of this, the Foundation for Free Enterprise Education/Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week has a summer program from June 30 through August 4 in Lycoming County. Students, staff, interns and leaders gather at Lycoming College and Pennsylvania College of Technology for a week of learning about free enterprise. This program does not receive any government funding. During this intensive week, students not only learn how to appreciate our free enterprise system, but they also see from business owners’ perspective what it takes to be successful in an increasingly competitive economy. I hope that you will join me by cosponsoring this legislation recognizing Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week. |
