Subject: | Endometriosis Awareness Month - March 2018 |
Recognizing March 2018 as Endometriosis Awareness Month in PA Please join me in recognizing March as Endometriosis Awareness Month in Pennsylvania. This disease affects an estimated 176 million women around the world and 5 million women in the United States, most commonly among women in their 30’s and 40’s. Endometriosis can have a vital effect on a woman’s quality of life, due to its very painful symptoms. It can also create fertility issues for women of child bearing age. There are no known causes of endometriosis, however, annual Pap tests can often detect the disease with or without symptoms. Treatment of the disease is often done through pain medication, hormones or in severe cases, surgery. By recognizing March as Endometriosis Awareness Month, we hope to encourage women to seek treatment and diagnosis in their health issues. |
