|Subject:||Cardiovascular Disease & Diabetes Awareness Week|
|In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating the week of February 11 to February 17, 2018 as Cardiovascular Disease & Diabetes Awareness Week in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Cardiovascular disease, including heart disease and stroke, are the nation’s leading cause of death and disability, with more than one million Americans suffering a new or recurrent coronary attack each year. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death associated with diabetes.
People with type 2 diabetes are at two to four times greater risk for developing cardiovascular disease. Sadly, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death associated with diabetes. In fact, two out of three deaths in people with type 2 diabetes are attributed to cardiovascular disease.
I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this resolution in an effort to raise awareness of the connection between cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
