Subject: | Nurse Practitioner Week in Pennsylvania - November 12-18, 2017 |
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution to designate the week of November 12-18, 2017 as Nurse Practitioner Week in Pennsylvania. Nurse Practitioners diagnose, treat and prescribe medications and other treatments to patients of all ages and walks of life through a caring, patient-centered, holistic model of care. Statistics show there are 234,000 licensed nurse practitioners in the United States, and 11,068 in Pennsylvania. Better utilization of nurse practitioners through modernized state laws and improved system policies creates better health through a more accessible, efficient, cost-effective and higher quality health care system. Twenty-two states and the District of Columbia have implemented full practice authority for nurse practitioners. Leading governmental and policy entities, including the National Academy of Medicine, National Council of State Boards of Nursing, National Governors Association and Federal Trade Commission have endorsed this regulatory model. Please join me in recognizing and honoring the service of Nurse Practitioners in our Commonwealth. |
