|Subject:||Designation of the Martin W. Kondor Memorial Bridge|
|In the near future, I will be introducing a bill designating the bridge on State Route 1008 that crosses the Codorus Creek and divides Hellam and East Manchester Townships in York County, as the Martin W. Kondor Memorial Bridge.
Martin was a United States Army Specialist and was killed in action, at age 20, while serving our country in Baqubah, Iraq on April 29, 2004. The personal security detail on which SPC Kondor served was surrounded in a crossfire attack while he was an M240 gunner assigned to Headquarters Company, 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, in support of Iraqi Freedom.
In the face of a determined enemy during a devastating ambush, SPC Kondor’s bravery and valor under fire saved the lives of his fellow soldiers. For his unquestioned personal courage in action, SPC Kondor was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star with V for Valor, and the Purple Heart.
Please join me in honoring the memory of this individual for his ultimate sacrifice.
