Subject: | Mission 22 - Heffley |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution that will recognize the Mission 22 campaign and its presence in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mission 22 is an organization that supports veterans and helps with suicide prevention efforts related to those who have served, and continue to serve our country. Mission 22 operates to raise awareness of the fact that an average of 22 United States veterans commit suicide every day due to post-traumatic stress (PTS) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) sustained while serving in the military. Mission 22 also creates large-scale public memorials to recognize and honor those who served, and has chosen three Pennsylvania veterans who have lost the battle with PTS and/or TBI. Please join me in cosponsoring this resolution which aims to bring the issue of veteran suicides to light and to help veterans find assistance and help they need and deserve so they may deal with the lingering mental health issues associated with combat. |
