MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 2, 2017 02:33 PM
From: Representative Michael K. Hanna
To: All House members
Subject: Reimbursement of emergency service providers

In the near future, I will be reintroducing legislation that would require the reimbursement of emergency service providers that respond to an emergency situation on state-owned land.

As many of you are aware, the majority of emergency service providers operate as nonprofits. The individuals who work for these organizations and associations put their lives at risk every day to keep the citizens of this commonwealth safe.

Under my bill, an emergency service provider that responds to a Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ request for emergency services on state-owned land would receive a $225 reimbursement. My legislation would also establish procedures for responding to state or local police requests for emergency services.

This proposal aims to provide necessary relief to these essential service providers and allows them to effectively respond to emergencies on public land.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

If you have any questions, please contact Lynette Perkins via email at LMPerkins@pahouse.net or by phone at 717-772-2283.

Introduced as HB1230
