Subject: | “Sunshine Week” in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution designating the week of March 12 through 18, 2017, as “Sunshine Week” in Pennsylvania. “Sunshine Week” was established in 2005 to spark discussion about the importance of open government and public access to government documents and meetings. Since its inception, the American Society of News Editors, the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, and various participants across the nation have recognized “Sunshine Week” and celebrated its meaning to the community. Please join me in recognizing this non-partisan event, which coincides with James Madison’s birthday, for the purpose of promoting openness and accountability in government. I encourage your consideration and co-sponsorship. Former House Resolution 717 of 2015-2016 - Previous Co-Sponsors: GIBBONS, KOTIK, READSHAW, SACCONE, HENNESSEY, MILLARD, SCHWEYER, V.
