Subject: | Age of Consent - Corrected Memo |
In the near future we plan to reintroduce House Bill 2359 from last session. The legislation will amend the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Control Act to specify that a parent or guardian is authorized to provide consent for treatment of their minor child. Confusion abounds in our communities about what to do when a loved one has an addiction. It is doubly hard when the person suffering is a minor child and family member. This legislation will make it abundantly clear that, in addition to the child’s right to consent, the parents and guardians also have the right to consent for treatment of the minor child. Please join us in co-sponsoring this important legislation.
