Subject: | Repealer – Act 176 of 1937 (Industrial Homework Law) |
As we continue our efforts to remove irrelevant laws from the books, I am preparing to introduce legislation to repeal the Industrial Homework Law. Over 80 years ago, when significant numbers of workers were engaged to manufacture items in their homes, this type of regulation may have made sense. In 2019, this statute is no longer relevant to Pennsylvania workers or manufacturers. The Department of Labor and Industry believes that the act is no longer necessary (they have not issued a permit under the act since 2003), and the department has requested this repeal. Please join me by cosponsoring this legislation. |
Introduced as HB1833
