Subject: Certification of Recovery Houses - Heffley
 
Currently there is no government oversight for recovery houses in Pennsylvania and they are proliferating across the Commonwealth. The Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs has convened a task force to recommend guidelines for the certification of those houses slated to receive public money. The task force recommendations are forthcoming this summer and my bill will put in a statute requirement to certify the recovery houses in order for them to receive public funding. The legislation requires the department to promulgate regulations on the certification of recovery houses that receive funding from any public source.
