|Subject:||Road Designation - CPL Carl F. Hynek III Memorial Highway|
|“A nation that forgets its own veterans will itself be forgotten.
….President Calvin Coolidge
In the near future I will be introducing legislation designating Edge Hill Road in Montgomery County as the CPL Carl F. Hynek III Memorial Highway.
CPL Carl F. Hynek was born and raised in Upper Moreland Township, Montgomery County and was drafted into the U.S. Army after his high school graduation. He served in Vietnam with the elite 101st Airborne Division.
He was killed on October 5, 1967 in Quang Nam, South Vietnam at the age of 22, having been in Vietnam for only three months. He died from wounds he received in an intense firefight with enemy forces. This young man has never been recognized for his sacrifice. This road designation is an appropriate way to permanently honor him.
Introduced as HB1739
