MEMORANDUM

Posted: October 13, 2015 09:52 AM
From: Representative Rick Saccone
To: All House members
Subject: Creation of Two New Military Decorations

I will be introducing legislation that amends Chapter 37 of Title 51, Military Affairs. The legislation would create and add two new decorations to the list of existing medals, badges, and awards that are authorized and presented by the Governor in the name of the Commonwealth: the Pennsylvania Medal of Achievement and the Pennsylvania Veterans Service Award. The Pennsylvania Medal of Achievement is to be ranked fifth, under the Pennsylvania Commendation Medal, and the Pennsylvania Veterans Service Award is to be ranked 13th, under the Pennsylvania Outstanding Aeronautical Achievement Award.

With the creation of these medals, the Governor will authorize the additional recognition of civilians and veterans on behalf of the Commonwealth. I hope that you will join me in recognizing the achievements and bravery of those in our Commonwealth by sponsoring this legislation. Recipients of these medals will be recognized for their sacrifices in maintaining our freedom and their dedicated service to this Commonwealth and its citizens.

Introduced as HB1727
