Subject: Defending Medical Privacy Rights of Firearm Owners
 
In the near future I intend to introduce legislation that will defend the privacy rights of firearms owners in Pennsylvania. My legislation will prohibit a health care provider from:
  • Asking if a patient is an owner of firearms.
  • Discriminating against a firearms-owning patient.
  • Recording any disclosed information from the patient concerning firearms ownership.
Additionally, my legislation will protect a patient’s right to decline answering a health care provider’s questions regarding firearms ownership.

Health care providers may inquire or record information regarding firearms ownership if it is relevant to the medical care or safety of the patient or the safety of others.

Pennsylvanians who exercise their Second Amendment rights should not be discriminated against in healthcare.
