Subject: | Designating April 4-8, 2016, as “Youth Violence Prevention Week” in Pennsylvania |
In the future, we will be introducing a resolution designating April 4-8, 2016, as “Youth Violence Prevention Week” in Pennsylvania. As you may know, recent studies show that Pennsylvania has more people serving sentences of life without the possibility of parole for crimes committed as juveniles than any other jurisdiction in the world. The National Association of Students Everywhere (SAVE) and the Guidance Group have joined forces to become the founding partners of the National Youth Violence Prevention Campaign to raise awareness and educate the public on the various ways to prevent youth violence in our communities. This is an issue that affects all of us, and especially our youth, in every legislative district. Therefore, this issue deserves the General Assembly’s unwavering support. Please join us in co-sponsoring this very important resolution. |
