Subject: | Resolution - Designating September 2015 as "Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I plan on introducing a resolution recognizing September 2015 as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Awareness Month in Pennsylvania. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is a hormonal disorder that affects as many as 5 million women in the United States. The disease greatly reduces a woman’s reproductive ability and makes them more susceptible to serious conditions such as heart disease and diabetes. While the cause of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is unknown, most experts believe that several factors, including genetics, could play a role. While there is no known cure for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, experts believe that by making small changes to diet and increasing exercise, women can improve their chances of conception by as much as 10 percent. Please consider joining me in helping to raise awareness of this disease by recognizing September 2015 as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Awareness Month in Pennsylvania. |
