In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation amending Section 1361 of the Public School Code of 1949 to ensure that school districts are not required to provide pupil transportation to any school or school district located outside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, except in the case of specialized schools or classes providing specialized instruction to students with special needs, which is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. I believe that this legislation can provide significant relief to school districts who are currently required to transport students across state lines.
