MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 29, 2015 01:33 PM
From: Representative Stephen Barrar
To: All House members
Subject: Increase PA National Guard State Active Duty Pay

In the near future, I will be introducing legislation which amends Title 51 (Military Affairs), Section 3102 by increasing the base “minimum” state active duty pay for National Guard personnel from the current $75 per day to the rate of $100 per day.

This legislation will financially enhance lower rank enlisted personnel that are activated by the Governor for duty during emergencies across the Commonwealth, such as those activated for Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee in 2011. This minimum base pay figure was last increased in 1996, from $45 to $75 per day. The increase to a base minimum pay of $100 per day will make this pay scale more equitable to the pay scale of this day and age, and is yet another way to compensate our National Guard personnel for their unselfish sacrifices to both Commonwealth and country in time of disaster or emergency.

Introduced as HB602
