MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 26, 2015 11:41 AM
From: Representative James R. Roebuck, Jr.
To: All House members
Subject: Trafficking Drugs to Minors Penalties

I will be reintroducing legislation formerly House Bill 1167 to amend the Crimes Code (Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes) by further providing for penalties for trafficking drugs to minors.

Specifically, Section 6314 (relating to sentencing and penalties for trafficking drugs to minors) makes a technical change as to the age of the offender; replacing the language "over 18 years of age" with "18 years of age or older." This legislation also mandates an additional two-year jail sentence (to the mandatory one-year jail sentence already in existence for this section) for offenders who, under this section, commit an offense within 1,000 feet of a playground or community recreational center, as well as a school.

Thank you in advance for cosponsoring this legislation.
