Subject: | Electronic Voter Registration |
When we return to Session in January, I intend to introduce legislation that would amend the Pennsylvania Election Code (Act 320 of 1937) to provide for electronic voter registration up to 30 days prior to an election. This legislation was previously introduced by former Representative Jesse White as House Bill 1505 during the 2013-14 session. This bill would allow Pennsylvania to follow in the footsteps of other states such as Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia, and Washington that already offer electronic voter registration to varying degrees. Increasing accessibility to our election polls while decreasing costs to our taxpayers are direct benefits of this legislation and I hope you will join me by signing on as a co-sponsor. Previous co-sponsors: WHITE, FRANKEL, ROZZI, KORTZ, YOUNGBLOOD, PAINTER, McGEEHAN, SCHLOSSBERG, D. COSTA, O'BRIEN, THOMAS, TRUITT, GIBBONS, PASHINSKI, BIZZARRO, MULLERY, GOODMAN, V. BROWN, KIM, HAGGERTY, COHEN and MOLCHANY |
Introduced as HB1223
