Subject:	Resolution Declaring April 26, 2014 as Pretzel Day in Pennsylvania

This week I will be introducing a resolution to declare April 26, 2014 as Pretzel Day in Pennsylvania. Pretzels are more than just a snack food—they are big business for Pennsylvania. As you may know, the commonwealth is recognized as the unofficial snack food capital of the US, with billions of dollars in sales annually. Pretzels make up a large amount of this, and people across the country enjoy Pennsylvania pretzels every day. We can also claim a historic first--the nation’s first commercial pretzel bakery was established by Julius Sturgis in Lititz, Lancaster County. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution.
