Subject: | Resolution Congratulating the Lycoming County Veterans Parade Committee for Their Efforts in Organizing the 2013 Veterans Day Parade |
In the very near future, I will be introducing a resolution congratulating the Lycoming County Veterans Parade Committee for their efforts in organizing the Lycoming County Veterans Day parade for the first time in over 10 years. In 1918 Armistice Day was established. At the time, soldiers who survived the war would march in parades through their hometowns, give speeches, and hold ceremonies of thanks for the peace the veterans had won. In 1954, Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day and continued to be celebrated on November 11th each year. Therefore, in honor of the courageous young men and women who have dedicated their lives to serve this nation, the Lycoming County Veterans Parade Committee will host a Veterans Day parade on November 9, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. The event will commence at the Park Place East on West Fourth Street and continue to Court Street in Williamsport, PA. Please join me in honoring and recognizing the significant and enduring accomplishments of all veterans, and to congratulate the Lycoming County Veterans Parade Committee for their efforts, by co-sponsoring this resolution. |
