Subject: | Hydrocephalus Awareness Month in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I plan to introduce a House Resolution recognizing November 2013 as “Hydrocephalus Awareness Month” in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Hydrocephalus is a condition in which an abnormal accumulation of fluid in the cerebral ventricles causes enlargement of the skull and compression of the brain, destroying much of the neural tissue. Hydrocephalus can affect individuals of every age, from infants to the elderly. There is no medical therapy to treat hydrocephalus, and the only effective treatments are surgical. Nearly 40,000 hydrocephalus operations are performed annually. I am hoping that by introducing this resolution it will raise more awareness across the state about this condition. If you have any questions, please contact Lori Nissly in my Harrisburg office at 717-783-1673 or lnissly@pahousegop.com Thank you for your interest and support. |
