Subject: | 2013 POW/MIA Recognition Day in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
I will be introducing a resolution designating Friday, September 20, 2013, as POW/MIA Recognition Day in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. POW/MIA Recognition Day is observed across the nation on the third Friday of September each year. It is a day of remembrance and hope for the speedy and safe return of American Prisoners of War (POW) and those still Missing in Action (MIA). It also seeks the return of the remains of fallen soldiers. Many Americans take the time to pay tribute to those who were prisoners of war and those who are missing in action, as well as their families. The day is one of six in which Congress mandates the flying of the POW/MIA flag. Please join me in honoring the great service men and women who have sacrificed so much for our continuing freedom. |
