Subject: | Property Tax Assistance Program - Former House Bill 1743 (2011-2012) |
In the near future, I plan to reintroduce legislation from last session which will amend Title 72 (Taxation and Fiscal Affairs) in order to establish the Property Tax Assistance Program (PTAP) which will be administered by the PA Department of Revenue (DOR). My legislation will provide further property tax relief to homeowners over the age 65 whose household income is less than $50,000 annually. Under PTAP, eligible and approved claimants would receive their entire school property tax obligation via a direct reimbursement from the Property Tax Relief Fund. To be eligible, claimants must file a DOR-generated application and a copy of their school property tax invoice with DOR 45 days prior to the invoice’s due date. If you have any questions, or if you would like a copy of the legislation, please contact Lea Farrell at 787-9033 or lfarrell@pahousegop.com. |
