Subject: PACENET Eligibility (former HB494)
 
In the near future I plan to introduce legislation that would modify eligibility requirements for the PACENET pharmaceutical assistance program.

Currently, the minimum and maximum income limits are not adjusted to reflect the Social Security Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) each year. As a result, senior citizens whose income increases incrementally from the yearly COLA are being disqualified from PACENET and are then unable to afford necessary prescription medications.

Under this legislation, the minimum and maximum income levels for PACENET eligibility will be adjusted annually (relative to the prior year’s levels) to reflect the current year’s Social Security COLA.
