MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 15, 2013 02:31 PM
From: Representative Rob W. Kauffman
To: All House members
Subject: Appropriations for Hospitals / Tourism Promotion Agencies (Formerly HB 482

In the near future, I plan to re-introduce legislation amending the Second Class Township Code. This legislation provides for appropriations for hospitals and tourism promotion agencies.

Specifically, this legislation would allow the board of supervisors to appropriate money each year toward the erection, maintenance or support of any medical center or hospital building facilities. The appropriation may not exceed one dollar ($1.00) for each township resident. If the total cost of the purchase or erection exceeds $100,000, approval by the appropriate health planning agency is required.

This legislation also permits the board of supervisors to appropriate money to any tourist promotion agency as defined in the “Tourist Promotion Law” to assist the agencies in carrying out tourist promotional activities. The appropriation may not exceed ten cents (.10¢) for each resident of the township.
