MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 2, 2013 02:17 PM
From: Representative Dan Moul
To: All House members
Subject: Legislation Amending the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards Act - Prior HB1822

In the near future, I plan on re-introducing legislation which would amend the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards Act (AEPS) by including natural gas as a Tier I energy. The goal of AEPS is to transition Pennsylvania to cleaner forms of energy. However, many of the sources which make up the AEPS mandate are very costly and therefore, result in higher energy prices for consumers. Natural gas is clean, abundant, domestic and affordable. By adding natural gas as a Tier I energy we can clean up our air, boost demand for a Pennsylvania resource, create jobs and lower energy bills for families struggling through this recession.

Introduced as HB1073
