MEMORANDUM

To: All Senate members
Subject: Skilled Nursing Care Week in Pennsylvania

In the near future we plan to introduce a resolution joining in a nationwide celebration which will recognize the week of May 12-18, 2024, as “Skilled Nursing Care Week” in Pennsylvania.

Established by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) in 1967, National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW) recognizes the essential role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for America’s frail, elderly, and disabled. The week starts each year on Mother’s Day and is celebrated through the following Saturday.

The theme for NSNCW 2024 is "Radiant Memories – A Tribute to the Golden Age of Radio.” Radio broadcasts have played a pivotal role in American life, from presidential fireside chats and war updates to old-time radio dramas and American Top 40 hits. This theme honors each story and moment that embodies the resilience, compassion, and shared humanity found within the walls of every care center.

NSNCW 2024 will focus on this collective effort and the amazing strength and dedication of those who work tirelessly every day to care for and protect frail, elderly, and disabled adults in long-term care. With each new season comes new beginnings, new strategies, and new information.

We hope that you will join us in honoring the work being done at Skilled Nursing Care facilities by dedicated and selfless healthcare professionals across the Commonwealth by co-sponsoring this resolution.
