Subject: | Pennsylvania Small Business Week Resolution |
In the near future, I will introduce a resolution recognizing the week of April 28 – May 4, 2024 as Pennsylvania Small Business Week. The U.S. Small Business Administration began celebrating National Small Business Week more than six decades ago to acknowledge the contributions and value of small business owners across America for their tireless work ethic, innovation and commitment to support local economies. According to the Department of Community and Economic Development, there are 1.1 million small businesses in the Commonwealth, employing 2.6 million Pennsylvanians. Small businesses rely on National Small Business Week as an important opportunity in the fiscal year to stimulate interest in shopping local. This resolution will join the efforts by the Governor, the Department of Community and Economic Development, chambers of commerce and small business organizations to highlight the past, current and future efforts of small businesses to support local jobs and keep money circulating in local economies. Pennsylvania’s small businesses fuel jobs, sustain families and breathe renewed life into our communities. Please join me in sponsoring this important resolution recognizing small businesses as the economic backbone of this Commonwealth. |
