Subject: Storage Fee Notification
 
In the near future, I will introduce legislation that amends the Towing and Towing Storage Facility Standards Act.
 
This legislation will ensure towing companies provide proper notice to consumers. Consumers will be notified of the location a vehicle is being stored within 5 business days of receipt of the vehicle. If a vehicle remains in storage for 60 days, a written correspondence will be sent to the address registered with the Department of Transportation, as a second effort, via first class mail.
 
This legislation will also provide relief, after 60 days, of fees and charges when a vehicle is being held at the request of law enforcement regardless of the actual length of time the vehicle is held at a facility.
