Subject: | Increasing the "Revolving Door" Prohibition to Two Years |
In the near future, I will reintroduce Senate Bill 980 that will extend the state’s prohibition for public officials or employees from lobbying the governmental body in which they were associated with, also known as the revolving door, to two years. Pennsylvania’s current one-year moratorium creates opportunities for legislators and legislative staff to leave the General Assembly and return to lobby the chamber where they came from in the same session. Extending this window to a two-year prohibition will ensure no former member of the General Assembly or staff can lobby in the same session. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, at least 14 other states have revolving door restrictions of at least two years. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation.
