MEMORANDUM

To: All House members
Subject: America250PA: Legacy Infrastructure Across Pennsylvania

We are two years away from celebrating the United States Semiquincentennial, otherwise known as America’s 250th birthday. Since 2018, America250PA has been coordinating this commemorative, multi-year-long event to highlight Pennsylvania’s integral role in our country’s founding.

America250PA’s goal is to engage Pennsylvanians across all 67 counties by showcasing the amazing people, places, and businesses in our Commonwealth. Some of these highlighted projects, programs, and initiatives include those that:

  • Support and encourage history education and civic engagement;
  • Encourage public engagement through shared stories and experiences;
  • Cultivate and revitalize culinary and agricultural traditions;
  • Boost the preservation and visitation of historical sites, landmarks, and state parks;
  • Showcase the work of local Pennsylvania artists;
  • Promote community service, environmental stewardship, healthy living, and community improvement projects;
  • Honor the service and sacrifice of our veterans; and
  • Empower youth and future generations of leaders in order to drive future innovation.

Now, we have the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy across Pennsylvania by changing the infrastructure landscape of this Commonwealth. After hosting 12 hearings across Pennsylvania, we have identified potential legacy projects in every region of our state that represent what Pennsylvanians want our Commonwealth to look like in 2026 and beyond. Imagine that your neighborhood is able to welcome the rest of the country and world to your community with a new infrastructure legacy project. We have the ability to do just that.

Please join us as we learn from our history, embrace our present, and re-imagine our future through this historic milestone anniversary. Pennsylvania IS the birthplace of democracy, and all eyes will be on us. We must not miss the mark.
