MEMORANDUM

Posted: October 12, 2023 03:58 PM
From: Representative Marci Mustello
To: All House members
Subject: Modernization of Small Games of Chance Act

In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation to modernize and enhance the Small Games of Chance (SGOC) Act for our service and civic organizations.

These organizations are the backbone of our communities, providing a place for our veterans to congregate, supporting many local charities and funding many local community projects. Many of these clubs and organizations were closed during the pandemic and are still trying to recover.

There have not been significant changes to the SCOC Act since 2012 and it is timely for these changes to be made and make the SGOC Act more up-to-date for our organizations.

My legislation will:

  • Increase individual prize limits;
  • Increase raffle prize limits, including special raffles for volunteer fire, ambulance, rescue and conservation organizations;
  • Clarify use of premise for auxiliary groups;
  • Lessen the for approval of an application by the county treasurer;
  • Increase limits for special permits; and
  • Modify the distribution of proceeds for club licensees.

I believe these changes will greatly help our service and civic organizations and move to modernize the SGOC Act.

 Please consider co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation.
