House of Representatives
Session of 2023 - 2024 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 24, 2023 09:40 AM
From: Representative Tim Briggs
To: All House members
Subject: Electronic Filing of Campaign Finance Reports

In the near future, I will be reintroducing a bill to require that all candidates for office and political action committees (PACs) in Pennsylvania utilize the Department of State’s online filing system to electronically file campaign finance reports.

Papering filing of campaign finance reports is outdated, costly, and inefficient. Many candidates and political actions committees already file their reports electronically.  Requiring electronic filing would not only improve government transparency and accountability, but it would also reduce existing costs to the Commonwealth.
We have the resources and technology to give our citizens the transparent government they deserve while saving the tax payers money.
A number of states already require electronic filing. Pennsylvania must not be left behind in the era of increased public transparency online.

Please join me in cosponsoring this measure to give our citizens the transparency they deserve while saving the tax payers money.

Introduced as HB815
