Subject: Eliminating Separate Checkout for Beer and Wine
 
In the coming days, I plan to introduce commonsense legislation providing our constituents with greater customer convenience.
 
As some of you may know, a couple of sessions ago, the General Assembly passed Act 29 of 2020. This bipartisan legislation contained language allowing the checkout at any register of beer and wine. This legislation passed our chamber unanimously. However, contained in the legislation was a square footage requirement that almost all our grocery stores cannot meet that prevents them from allowing check out at any register.
 
My legislation will enable check out of beer and wine at any register so that our constituents will have greater ease of shopping as we continue to update our archaic liquor laws.
