MEMORANDUM

Posted: November 1, 2021 09:16 AM
From: Representative Torren C. Ecker
To: All House members
Subject: Constitutional Amendment: Secret Ballot Elections in the Workplace

Recent discussion surrounding election integrity brings to light many concerns – among them, the right to have one’s vote counted secretly. Just as citizens want elections to be conducted freely, fairly, and anonymously, employees participating in workplace elections deserve the same right.

New legislation at the federal level would undermine the sanctity of secret ballot elections in the workplace. Workplace elections without secret ballot protections leaves the process open to interference, coercion, and pressure from employers and organizers who may try and interfere with the vote.

This constitutional amendment will guarantee all employee’s rights to secret ballot elections for any election required by federal or state law, including when voting for workplace representation.

I ask that you join me in cosponsoring this important piece of legislation to protect every citizen’s and worker’s right to fair and free elections.

Introduced as HB2769
